Mahi Toi - Our scratch art

We used pastels to colour our whole paper first then we painted our picture with black paint. We waited for the paint to dry then we scratched our pictures and these are the results.

Duffy Role Model Assembly - CV: Mary Kelleher crafts New Zealand stories as murals using fabric, buttons, old collectibles, tools and toys. Her Handmade Histories murals are photographed and published as books. Both books, The Story of a New Zealand Truck Driver (2014) and The Mill is Kaiapoi (2014) are richly detailed narratives that put a fresh spin on Aotearoa history. Kelleher came up with Handmade Histories after 30 years in the garment industry, where clothing collections are presented as ‘stories’ for each new season. Her use of fabric and old objects conveys a story and a message, that life was just as busy and productive before we entered the age of computers and all things digital.
