Showing our feelings

We are learning to show our feelings and learn feeling words in Māori.

  • Harikoa - happy
  • Tangi - cry
  • Mataku - scared
  • Riri - angry

Yesterday Whaea Koryna and ruma tekau tamariki learned about our feelings and how to chat about them.
First she taught us to draw some pikitia showing our emotions. Then we wrote the Māori word for the pictures underneath.
Next Whaea Pam and Whaea Koryna put them up on the wall for us all to share.  We also expressed our feelings by acting them out. We pretended to cry, we pretended to get angry, we pretended to be scared, and we pretended to be happy.

We sang the song E papa waiare and used our hands to practice the actions with a buddy, then we used the rakau.

We all felt harikoa because we sang the song and learned new things all together as a class.
